Japanese soprano Amane Machida is currently pursuing a Master of Music at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and also studied Classical Operetta at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.At the Vienna State Opera, she performed in the soloist quartet in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Mozart). In the summer of 2024, she appeared as Princess Mi in Das Land des Lächelns (Lehár) at the Stadttheater Bad Hall. She portrayed Florinda in Fierrabras (Schubert) at Das MuTh, and Pepi Pleininger in Wiener Blut (Strauss) at TAG. She also appeared in Europeras 3 & 4 (Cage) at the Stadttheater Gießen, and as Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief (Menotti) in the Frankfurt University production.Additionally Amane sang the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart) and the Second Lady/Boy in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar in 2017 and 2021. She has also participated in SongFest and a masterclass with Ian Bostridge.In addition to singing, Amane studied yodeling with Agnes Palmisano in Vienna and is also an active swing dancer.
